Bill-Haycock > Savannah River, East side, Sun rise. I used a very large f stop (f/36) to insure depth of field from foreground to background! Exposure was 2 seconds. My idea was to have the vertical poles on the left "point" toward the sun rise! The pier edge also converged with the poles to "guide one's eyes to the main subject, the sun rise. White balance was set to tungsten to enhance the warm glow - a "mahogany" filter was used to increase the color effect of the water as well. f/36 @ 2 seconds Focal Length = 50mm ISO = 100 White Balance = shade (warming filter)
Bill-Haycock > Savannah River - Taken about 30 minutes after sunrise on the east side of the Savannah River. Savannah River Bridge is in the background. I used a large "F stop" to ensure good depth of field. White balance set to "shady" to increase the warmth and golden glow provided at this time of the morning. The photo was taken to practice using composition and color - the balloons provided the area of interest with the boat guiding one's eyes up from the boat! Half of the image is water - this provided the foreground I was looking for. F/36 ensured a great depth of field - the Savannah Bridge is in focus providing the vertical component to the image I was looking for. Photo Shop was used to deepen the blues and reds - especially the deeper blue of the water. A blue filter was used to provide the color I was looking for. A simple snapshot type photo but used to practice: Color, contrast, composition (foreground, subject, background) f/36 @ 0.4 sec Focal Length = 47mm ISO = 100 White Balance = "shade" (enhances warmth)
